Keate House Win National Activity Providers Association Award

At Keate House we are delighted to have been chosen as winners in the recent National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) Awards, where we received the top Award in the category for ‘Best Project for Promoting the Arts in Care’.

Our residents developed the idea to create a beautiful art piece as a project within the local community; they invited the local pre-school group, from Holly Grange Montessori Nursery in Lymm, as well as other members of the local community to join in and collectively produce a creative painting of a brightly coloured spring scene entitled – Branching Out, a Community Collage.
The project was organised by Helena Edwards, local art enthusiast who runs a weekly class for residents at Keate House and whose passion is in developing art in the community.

The final piece caught the judges eye not only for the vibrancy and beauty of the painting but for the collective way in which Keate House residents worked with local pre-school children and other members of the community to develop this shared creative project.
The judges commented on what particularly impressed them: ‘It shows a great example of the way that connecting with the community can bring life and vigor into a care setting’

The trophy and certificate were collected at the recent Awards Ceremony in London by two of our residents who worked on the project Joe and Joan, along with Helena Edwards, Jill Brown – Keate House’s Activities Co-ordinator and our Care Home Manager, Diane Clarkson.
Diane Clarkson, later commented:
“We were delighted to be invited to London to receive this special award which the residents, pre-school children and members of the community helped to create.

It really does demonstrate how people of all ages can be brought together through art in the community.
Special thanks go to our art class teacher Helena who made this all possible as well as Jill and Laura our Activities team plus all our wonderful talented residents and children who worked together on the project”
