Comfortable Covid-safe garden visits for residents
Keeping Residents and visitors to the home safe and well during the current demands of Covid -19 has been an absolute priority at Keate House and, in recent months, the home’s garden visit house has played a very important part in allowing residents to maintain contact with their families in a safe and secure environment for all.
The garden visit house allows residents and staff to meet safely and comfortably with families on separate sides of a secure Perspex screen which allows clear sound communication via an internal microphone and speaker system.
All twenty to thirty-minute visits are managed within government guidelines to include visitor temperature checks, hand sanitisation as well as pre and post-visit deep cleaning of all areas. For the colder days ahead the house includes internal heaters to keep everyone warm whilst the visits take place.
Diane Clarkson Care Home Manager commented:
“Our outdoor garden visit house has been a huge success with residents, their families and staff alike. It has provided valuable contact and continuity between our residents and their loved ones.
The house allows wide access to visitors from a side entrance to ensure social distancing, safety and protection and has provided a much-needed boost for residents who have found visit restrictions both emotionally and mentally challenging. We have had such lovely positive feedback from everyone and will continue to use the house throughout the coming months, health and government guidance permitting”
The Garden visit house sits in the large area to the side of the main house which has undergone extensive re-development over the spring and summer months as part of Keate House’s new extension project seeing the addition of six brand new dementia care rooms.
